Barrow Hospital was built in the 1930s and used as a naval hospital during WW2. At its peak in the 1970s it held 453 residents. But by 2004 only 3 residential buildings remained open. In 2005 Barrow Hospital was found to be the dirtiest hospital in the country, forcing it to close immediately (summer 2006) 2 years ahead of planned closure.
I revisited Barrow with Tumbles this weekend where we explored more of the site than I had the time before. I am so glad I got to see whats left of the site as it is on its last legs.
