Report - A little more Monkton Farleigh (19 & 20) December 2010

And so it came to pass in December of 2010 that Styru, Urbanity, Collingwood, Oxygen Thief and Raddog avoided any danger of being dragged out Christmas shopping by hiding underground at that most interesting of weekend diversions - Monkton Farleigh districts 19 and 20.

The history is well documented elsewhere, but suffice to say that after quarrying finished the military used it to store ammunition during WW2 and beyond.

Even once they left it remained off-limits, with its new owners forgetting to put out the welcome mat.

Anyway - some random pics:

Thanks for the company guys, look forward to seeing your takes on the place.

Unbelievably big thanks to Collingwood for the loan of his spare tripod - managed to leave mine on the roof of my car in a hospital car-park this morning (and still there when we got back tonight!)

Nope, seemed to have it to ourselves - but its so big there could easily have been a coach load of Japanese tourists that we missed
