Just an abandoned fully furnished villa house overlooking Ramla Bay beach on the island of Gozo. Decided it's worth a report because of the very strange note I found at the entrance.
HISTORY
Umm not much, it's just an abandoned villa. Apart from to say that Ramla Bay is by far the best beach on the island of Gozo and definitely worth heading to if on the island. Right next to this villa is Calypso's Cave which allegedly is the cave referred to by Homer in The Odyssey. The nymph Calypso lived in this cave and it is where she entertained Ulysses for seven years before he resumed his journey. The cave is definitely not worth the hike up from the beach.
Could well be one of the 23 villas that caused a bit of a political scandal in 2007: On June 6 2007, the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) approved the construction of 23 villas next to Calypso Cave, despite the objection of the Superintendent of Cultural Heritage, the Malta Labour Party, the Alternattiva Demokratika Green Party and Malta's main environmental organisations. MEPA did not request an environment impact assessment for the development, leading to a call for their resignation. The case is expected to be reported to European Union environment commissioner Stavros Dimas.
REPORT
The villa overlooks the beach up on a hillside
Impressive entrance
And in we go
But what is this note doing at the door???
And they did leave some money and cigarettes: 3 Euros and 70 cents (about £2.50) and 2 cigarettes. The tight fisted skinflints. That is taking the piss. You broke the lock on the door (I saw the damage), you took the beers, ran up an electricity bill (water and electrics all still on) and judging by the pile of used condoms left beside the bed you didn't just stay there for a drink or two but rather must have been there for some time. And you didn't do the washing up before you left.
Anyways lets look at the villa
The master bedroom
And one of the 2 other bedrooms
Bathroom sort of hygienic and usable
Finally nice terrace with a great view
Sp there you are. So if you after a cheap holiday, Ryanair flight can be had for less than £100 return and accommodation here just Euro 3.70. Absolute bargain! I would not approve by the way.
