History
The Allesley Hotel in Coventry dates back to 1720 when it was used as a coaching inn. It later became a farmhouse and was eventually reopened as a 28-bed hotel with a restaurant in 1985. The site has undergone extensive development and is known as Windmill Village. In 1737, it was owned by Timothy Stoughton, and in 1971 it served as a meeting place for the Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire for the Freemasons.
The hotel had been accused of operating as a hostel for asylum seekers without planning approval by Coventry City Council. The hotel closed in 2022 and has suffered two large fires deeming the building unsafe and beyond repair.
