History

The Allesley Hotel in Coventry dates back to 1720 when it was used as a coaching inn. It later became a farmhouse and was eventually reopened as a 28-bed hotel with a restaurant in 1985. The site has undergone extensive development and is known as Windmill Village. In 1737, it was owned by Timothy Stoughton, and in 1971 it served as a meeting place for the Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire for the Freemasons.

The hotel had been accused of operating as a hostel for asylum seekers without planning approval by Coventry City Council. The hotel closed in 2022 and has suffered two large fires deeming the building unsafe and beyond repair.

This was a solo visit as I’m quite local, was here for a couple of hours, with no issues.

I was actually passing through Coventry today, what a dump of a place. Decent looking hotel though, I imagine it's no longer that nice.

No it’s completely fire damaged now, t think they’re demolishing it and building houses soon. Yeah proper dump.

Planning went in in November for 62 houses on the site, but so far its not been approved yet...
Unfortunately, since the fires, it would be the best thing for it.
