The Day
After attempting to get into what we believed to be an untouched school (I'll have some external shots in a couple days) we moved to our backup plan of The Ambassador Hotel in a lovely spot by the main road on the sea front.
History
There was not much that I could find, here's a few bits though:
In the North Shore area of Blackpool, about 0.25 miles from North Pier, Ambassador has picturesque views of the Irish Sea, free on-site parking and comfortable bedrooms. The Ambassador Hotel is on the North Promenade, close to 2 golf courses and Blackpool North Station. Blackpool town centre, nightlife, theatres and attractions can be reached by tram or bus, or you can walk along the seafront promenade. Blackpool Tower is about 1 mile away. The comfortable rooms have an en suite bathroom, a TV, hospitality tray, full-size ironing board and hairdryer.
I believe it was built/converted into a hotel in the 1960s and it probably closed around 201 as we found adverts for shows inside at that time although I'm not definite.
Four crews from Blackpool, Bispham and South Shore attended the blaze at the former Ambassador Hotel on Derby Road at around 9pm on July 16. Firefighters were at the scene for around one-and-half hours while they made searches of the building to ensure nobody was trapped inside. A spokesman for the fire service said: "We were called to a disused hotel after a mattress in a corridor had been set alight. This explains the serious fire damage on the top floor.
The Visit
After making a makeshift hump, (you would understand if you were there) we were in, access being a lot easier than anticipated after the first obstacle. Inside much more than I expected of the rooms was still there, beds, lamps, wallpaper and most unexpected, curtains. They came in a wide variety of colours and some were left hanging out the window, which looked awesome.
Note that the bottom two layers are completely pitch black because the boards are covering them so I'd recommend bringing a torch.
Pictures
Happy with the ones I got here, hope you enjoy them. Please leave some feedback
