I've been endeavouring to go back through all my old collection of photos and post some historic reports..
First up is the old Dye Works at Ambergate..
HISTORY
The factory was constructed by the Stevenson family in Ambergate in the late 19th Century.
At its peak in the 1970's the factory employed almost 1500 people.
The site remained under family ownership until 1966, when it was purchased by Coats Viyella Clothing and in 2002, and it became part of the Quantum Clothing Group.
It was forced to close the plant soon after due to financial difficulties.
Demolition began sometime in 2014 and the land is now being prepared for regeneration.
VISIT
This articular visit was one of about 4 we made over a month or so, trying to document as much of the site as possible before it was lost.
NOTE
As a graffiti artist of 15yrs it's just dawned on me how many photos are mainly documenting the art in these places...That said, I have thousands of photos of scores of sites in Derbyshire, so I'll endeavour to keep the art pictures to a minimum as I realise it's not why 99% of you go exploring
