Appleyard’s Scrapyard/ Blueline Taxis June 2020Leeds, United Kingdom
History
Appleyards scrapyard first opened these premises in 1920 situated just off the canal path, It’s first use when it first opened were those of just an ordinary scrap yard before later becoming Thackery’s Mill and then Clayton Waste Traders which would specialise in recycling of cars for spare parts. It is rumoured that at some point there were reports of residents hearing very loud and aggressive guard dog protecting the grounds.
Also it was shortly used as offices for the now also abandoned Blueline taxis, The site closed its doors for good in the middle of 2019 and has become heavy vandalised and from the looks of it has now started to attract attention from the local homeless as a safe place to reside in.
Explore
A very short visit because it honestly isn’t a huge place although for a small sized explore most of the items connecting it to it’s former life has remained, Upon entering it was clear to see all the scrap metal, Fridges, Cookers, Rusted car parts still on the shelf and even a list of all the cars that they have had in there over the years! A nice little explore, Another one ticked off on the list! Onwards and upwards
