One hell of a night with myself and Oxygen Thief...
The Bracley Curle titan crane was once used to fit diesel engines into ships. It is a forgotten relic of Glasgow's once proud shipbuilding tradition, one which has been virtually swept away by progress over the past 20 years.
Just reaching the cranes base was an explore in itself, and an further challenge to get up onto it's brack base. But once there we began the climb up the three large exposed steel steps.
The jib sits on the largerst gear wheel you will ever see, with the jib's lattice work sitting on the top. The walk over the jib was daunting, the crunching of rusting tread plate making the huge drop seem ever closer!
One of the best cranes I have climbed, beaten only by Swan Hunter...
The money shot...
