This branch of Barclays was original built in 1809, and then more modern structure added in 1881. Talking to the staff before the branch closed, the building was in a bad state of disrepair, with water leaks & other structural issues. It closed & relocated to Trinity Walk.
This building will now become a Bar / restaurant also, in addition, exclusive flats, at the top end of the building including an office space for the investors of the building.
The main vault (still in situ) will become a V.I.P. dining place for people who wish to dine in the vault, with the main vault door still present.
A surprise to find out who much the building was sold for was for £150.000.!
The investor who never even saw the building bought it, (has business around Wakefield) decided to put this land mark to use.
