Report - Bargate shopping centre, Southampton, January 2017

Brieif history..

The Bargate Shopping Centre, named after Southampton's prominent Bargate landmark, was opened in 1989. The centre focused on being a collection of specialist outlets rather than a mainstream shopping centre.
In January 2013, all traders inside the centre were given notice to leave their premises by BNP Paribas Real Estate, who were attempting to sell the complex. The Bargate Centre and its multi storey car park finally closed on 10 June 2013.

The mooch..

Decided to award myself a day off work and drive south to see if this spot was any good. After walking around the outside of the shopping centre and giving change to almost everyone I made eye contact with, I had found a point of entry.. Kushty!
Not so kushty after all.. builders had parked their vans beneath my point of entry whilst they worked on a building opposite.. clear view of everywhere I needed to be.

long story short.. the vans turned out beneficial and I got in...
It had been heavily vandalised inside but still pretty cool to see.

Place was in better condition back in Jan16. Place was always easy to get into.


All gone now tho demo team have ripped the building a new one last picture i see was excavators ripping the building apart from the inside out

I wasn't aware of this spot till a couple days before I visited, although it was pretty trashed I still quite enjoyed moochin about.

The car park never actually closed as it was owned by NCP it was in use up to demolition only the top 2 levels where blocked off as that was the easy access route to the center lol

I really would not bother with it. Its a waste of time now had a mooch down just to see the girl go didnt even stay 4 mins had better stuff that area to look at and you can see plenty better if you look about

It's practically gone hasent. It.

Weve been looking around town recently. Done some of the obvious ones. Trying to go and the obscure places.
