A number of reports have been posted here on 28DL for Bawdsey Bunker so this is really just an opportunity to post some photos so people can see the state of the bunker as it is April 2014. This was my first visit to the bunker and was grateful for guidance from others who came along including The Queen.
The site was used by the MOD from as far back as the start of the second world war when it was a radar site, through the cold war as a Rotor site and in more recent years as a Bloodhound Missile launch site. A friend of my served in the RAF at Bawdsey on the Bloodhounds. The bunker is a R3. The site was a combined ground controlled intercept and Chain Home base.
