Having only recently finding out about this explore and finding its location I can truly say it was definitely an interesting day.
After only 4 hours of sleep, I quickly rushed to meet my friends at this site. The journey was roughly 40 minutes honestly I almost fell asleep but the hospital site was an easy spot driving down the main road near the A229.
Relatively easy to get in, we just crawled under a gate but previously damage could be seen against the fencing surrounding the site.
Our first stop was the pool, slightly covered by a social club it was still a quick find since the colour condition of the tiles was very bright. We took some photos and quickly moved on checking to see if there was any entrances to the surrounding buildings. We quickly noticed some cameras and it was not clear whether or not they were active, but by the time we had spotted them we had already walked in their line of vision so we just carried on as it wouldn’t have mattered at that point if we were caught or not.
The surrounding buildings to the main hospital building consisted of a museum, a post office, eye care unit and occupational health. There were around about 10 buildings on the site if I counted correctly, all quite big but all locked up pretty good. There were no clear ways into any of the buildings so we just had to admire by the exterior and look in the windows.
Everything inside all the buildings is in nik condition.
However, as we were leaving we got busted by security so it’s not a risk free explore. There site is also used as police dog training grounds so we got lucky on the day that we went.
Not much to say on the history as it closed when a new, better hospital was built next to it so it was more efficient to cut expenditures to the current abandoned buildings. Has been closed for a few years though.
