"Explored with OT, Speed and Laura"
Built by Eldridge Pope and Co in the 1870's, this handsome brewery with it's maltings, fine chimney and bonded stores closed in 2002 after a takeover from Marston's.
Much of the site was demolished, and the rest stripped. Still after seeing the recent reports I thought it looked like it could be a decent explore and as I am suffering from brewery fever at the moment we took a drive down to a part of the country I know very little about.
It was as empty as a bugger but a great building to explore. The maltings was odd too with round towers built into a square shell?? The malting floor was long gone but the furnaces were still in situ.
Note where the roof of a later addition had cut the shield bottom off!
