This was a real experience. After seeing this place so many times on the internet and being so desperate to go, when I stepped in the church I couldn't quite believe I was actually finally there.
There was some graffiti but with a place so well documented as this, it was to be expected.
I was pleasantly surprised that the building had more to it than just the iconic church and found myself deciding to go back on my final day to explore the remains of the adjoined seminary.
I believe the site was fully left abandoned in the 2000's after various attempts to use the seminary building for different functions, all of which eventually failed. I think it was up for sale at one point too but there were no signs of anything happening here on my visit.
