Good Evening,
My 2nd report (and this time with some better photos) is from the Bobsleigh Hotel and Restaurant on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead/Bovingdon.
The hotel closed its doors in 2014 with the owners saying that it was no longer viable to keep open, plans were submitted to the council to in 2019 to convert the hotel into houses/flats however, the planning committee at the council appear to be taking their time in making a decision and the property remains in situ.
The property consists of the main hotel, a pool, a number of wings from the main building & at the rear of the property; a number of static caravans which were mostly originally rented out to staff members. At the time of my visit (in October 2021), two of the static caravans were still unbelievably in occupation despite the complete destruction of the caravans around them (see pictures).
On the day I visited, there was a sole car parked outside the front of the hotel, I suspect that this is one of the static caravans cars, and is parked outside to hopefully deter people from approaching, additionally there are posters everywhere stating that the area is being used as a police training area.
Access to the hotel posed zero issues and I suspect the owners have left it this way in order for the local youths to speed things along with its refurbishment which is a shame because the main building is really beautiful
