Right.
Bit of a report/fail/info this one. Wasn't sure whether to stick it up or not but I thought it might go as a lead or whatever. See if anybody else fancies it.
Found this empty looking building on the corner whilst out and about, and then remembered @host mentioned some disused council buildings a while back. Well turns out it was this town hall complex.
5 buildings
All Grade II Listed
The Town Hall - Blue built in 1882
The Free Library and Museum - Red built in 1887
Former police station - pink built 1890
The Incwell building (former post office)- Yellow built 1905
Former public baths - Green built 1888
Also across the road is the former school board office built in 1888
The Town hall had a van parked infant and a few cars in the carpal around the back. This looked live the rest didn't.
Quick Jump over a wall into the courtyard. Everything is boarded up and locked tight. After a bit of head scratching we did manage to find a way in, underground.
Went through a basement, down a corridor into some archives from when it was a grammar school or used by the school?. Up some stairs to ground level and theres a locked door with a key code. @GK_WAX found a post it note with a code on it. WINNER. We were in!
Aaaaaanway. Turns out we are in the Free Library and Museum and it's still very much in use. Checked the clock machine and there was probably between 20-30 people working there 40hours a week. Took a few quick snaps as it was still a pretty decent old gaffe.
Went back out to another way we spotted, this took us underneath the old police station. Had a quick nosey in the basement there. found a dark room and remnants of an old photography club. A few police things but nothing exciting. Didn't get any pictures in here as we were scoping it out first. Opened the door to ground level hoping for epic and bam off goes an alarm. We swiftly made our way out and sat back to see what sort of response would turn up. Walked back around to the car and secco came out of the town hall did a couple of laps of the complex and then went to check out the alarm. Probably took him about 30 minutes or so before he responded.
So yeah. Like I said bit of a fail but I thought id pop it on anyway incase anyone else tries it, might have a go myself next time I'm around that way.
My pics
deffo has some potential though.
