Well Hi,
First report so don't be hard on me...
Nah, please do I need the criticism
Anyway, on with the report.
The Bowdenhill limestone company was a small operation based south west of Linlithgow. The mining began around 1800 and continued producing limestone up until 1901 when the last worker, a Mister Rankin I believe, died.
There are a few external buildings, a small cottage with a workshop and stables and 3 lime kilns - all filled in now sadly.
The actual mines stretch out right through the hill side (a stream runs though the workings from one side of the hill to the other), roughly 750m. There are 4 open entrances out of the 8 there once were.
On with the pictures
Icicles, a plesant constant temperature of -2 degrees :
Sorry about the poor quality, only got a compact =/
