Brighouse baths first opened in 1913 and closed last year. The council claims that the building needed extensive repairs and the filtration equipment needed replacing. It is funny how they managed to maintain it for two years after finding these problems but can no longer carry on. They said the that the money would be better off used in the new leisure centre they are building rather than maintaining the old baths.
I thought I would check this out before it gets sealed again and is my first urbex on a pool.
The pool building
Entire site including mortuary
Mortuary building - theres no access to this, we tried a few keys but no luck. Someone has smashed the back door in but its still locked up
Angel of the north
Loads of these about. They must have had an asbestos survey done
No access to the boiler/filtration room either but you can just see it through a window.
Cheers
