Due being pretty much confined to barracks as Wales is still 'on lockdown', here's a report from a few years ago.
The hospital is on the site of the former Festiniog workhouse and ceased to function as a working hospital in 2008. Most of it is just as it was although tidied up a little and part of it is now lived in, after plans to convert it fell through I believe. I made a few visits here back in the day so this is a compilation.
This is the vagrants ward, a separate block which has been documented a fair bit in other reports. Its a fascinating place which looks like it hasn't been touched in many decades. I imagine that's partly due to the colony of lesser horseshoe bats living there. One interesting thing that doesn't seem to be included in any other reports of here is the inverted crucifix by the entrance. It seems like its been there for some years and I'm intrigued about the purpose.
On to the other interesting bit that's separate to the main building - the chapel of rest. I'm not sure if this was ever a fully functioning mortuary as such, it was certainly very much untouched.
And now to the main block which was in pretty decent shape. My apologies if some of the pics look a bit over-cooked and I have to warn you - this one is quite chair heavy!
