The first photo might not be mine, I think I forgot to take one from the outside, not sure if I have to declare that.
The Buna Clubhouse, also known as the "House of Friendship" (Haus der Freundschaft) or "X50," is a historic cultural building located in Schkopau, Germany. Built in 1952-1953 during the era of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), it was designed in the Socialist Classicism style by architects Hauser and Reinhardt. The clubhouse was constructed to serve the 20,000 workers of the Buna chemical plant and became a hub for cultural and social activities.
The building featured impressive facilities, including a theater with over 750 seats, a concert hall with 250 seats, and modern stage technology for its time. It hosted performances by national and international artists, including the Berliner Ensemble and the Komische Oper. The site also included additional spaces like a restaurant and rooms for various events and activities.
This place was huge, I'm sure many great nights were spent here. It's hard to think of it buzzing with activity now. It's just silent!
