SECRET UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR CITY @ CORSHAM
Gained access to this site a few times earlier in the year...have waited to make sure the dust was well and truly settled before sharing with everyone.
1000's of pictures were taken making it tricky to choose the best ones... Here is a small selection anyway.
Totally amazing place to explore! With the help of maps and plenty of research beforehand, managed to explore pretty much all of it. It can take an entire night to explore a few sections of it so electric buggys were helpful in getting to the outer reaches.
Some areas are pretty well preserved, and very much like walking into a 1950's time capsule. Other areas have disintegrated badly, with large amounts of mold/damp/dust/asbestos etc. Damp was a big problem for this place, we inadvertantly ended up on the wrong side of 'DANGER - SPORES!' signs a couple of times
It was interesting that the lights are on in some areas. There was new evidence of recent activity by the maintenance staff each time we visited so it is certainly not completely abandoned. Perhaps most impressive was the huge butterfly valve designed to shut off the air in the event of a gas attack/fallout and the air shaft where the fans are still running at full blast creating a powerful gust of wind through the tunnels of the bunker.
We were not caught, we did not encounter any security, we did not remove anything we did not cause any damage whatsoever.
All I can say about access is that it is unlikely anybody else will be getting in the way we used.
