Cabot is an American company. The Ellesmere plant was the first works to be built under the Marshall plan for econoimic recovery after the war. It was Britain's largest producer of Carbon black. The works were recently closed to cut costs by moving production to china...
I have no idea how something like this has been missed, I assume it has been done and it's wrapped in that secrecy bollocks thats going on at the moment, but anyhow, here it is!
The plant was under demo when we arrived, but with the realisation that it would be gone by the time we could return we grit our teeth and went for it... it paid off! By being careful we were able to see the workshops, labs, offices, turbine hall and much of the production area. Somebody needs to get up on the elevated catwalks at some stage before they are gone!
When we were leaving we must have bobbed when we should have weaved as there was two fellas watching us from the room we had been in two minuites before... but we got out and away ok!
