I fucking hate heights. Like really really hate it. So yeah, getting me up one of the tallest points in Bristol took some doing. Todays throwback takes us back to May 2011. Cabot Tower in Bristol was built between 1896 and 1898 in memory of John Cabot, 400 years after he set sail in the Matthew from Bristol and landed in what was later to become Canada. It consists of a spiral staircase and two viewing platforms which overlook the city, the higher of which is approximately 334 feet (102 m) above sea level. It had been closed since 2007 pending structural repairs. None of which took place until early 2011 when scaffolding appeared on the buliding and it was that this point it was now or never. The only things I'm worse at that heights is taking pictures at heights and also SRT. The later was required to get over the 18ft hoarding around the permiter of the tower. Thanks to Eotech for somehow persisting with me and getitng up and over. Of course I left him to do the crazy shit and climb right to the top - I was perfectly happy on the top level of the scaffolding.
