Ok, so this weekend I managed to get access to a location that has been on my hitlist for a few months now, so you can imagine my delight once that door shut behind me.
Unfortunately the main dancehall was pitch black so no amount of time on the shutter speed was going to fix that. Luckily the rest of the building was pretty well lit.
The place has been empty for 2 years now and is well on it's way to being overgrown, mouldy and rotten, especially in certain areas upstairs.
Built in the early 1900s as the country's first ballroom it survived a world war and then everything else the century had to throw at it.
Turns out people don't want to ballroom dance these days so it finally gave up the ghost. In the 70s to its demise, it was a popular hang out for some of London's most notorious gangsters (The Krays) and has even been features on Most Haunted TV show. What more could you want?
Enjoy.
