Having already got my wellies wet a little further downstream investigating something that turned out to be nothing more than a small crawl space I thought it was worth wandering a little further to check this out. It’s only short and I hadn’t really expected to be doing a report on it. However both me and @tallginge had wondered about it before having visited the climbing centre next door, and the pics came out ok so I’m posting it regardless.
This is, simply, a small culverted section of the river Sheaf running under the Centenary Works building and the road beyond. The first section is concrete, the second is a stone arch. The water is suspiciously bluey green tinted throughout and there’s a constant smell of sewerfresh, likely as a result of the recent lower water levels leaving dirty water to stagnate.
Job done.
