Just sorting out the stuff that may never see the light of day..
So I think this was my first bum clenching power station visit. Luckily I was accompanied by @AndyK. We arrive and find the cooling tower steaming this is from the newer plant on the site. Minutes after accessing the site there is a bang and we are in the bushes. No idea what it was and we head on down the train track surrounded by trees and in the dark. Its quite reminiscent of Stand By Me. Once we get near the plant we see torches waving around, its a fair distance and we are covered. Then we hear chains and another visit to the bushes is undertaken. Eventually we make it to our access, but the coal conveyor is fenced up there is a tight squeeze and we make it just in time. As we soon notice the flashing of torches again.
The rest is plain sailing though we don't wonder too far as we believed some of the offices were in use due to the amount of cars parked outside.
I was looking forward to the control room here as it is quite an original style. Well it was until other similar ones have popped up. However it seems they may of shut down one of the two 250mw generating sets long before closure of the complete plant. Half of the control panel is now a bloody bookcase. However with some quick restoration work we restored the control panel to almost its former glory to give it the send off it deserved.
Thanks for looking.
