On April 26 1986 the most serious accident in the history of nuclear industry occurred at reactor 4 of the Chernobyl power plant. The city of Pripyat and the surrounding towns and villages were all evacuated, The people could only take necessary items as they were supposed to return in 3 days, this information was released to avoid panic and to stop people taking too much luggage with them. Thousands of people have been affected from radiation exposure!! It is now safe to explore the city, but there are still some places with high levels of radiation!

That big gazebo over the reactor is quite a sight!

I know it's there for a purpose, but it kind of looks wrong to me as I am used to seeing the 'Naked Sarcophagus' from my visits and in others photos.

Very nice, looks as if you covered a lot of ground. Interesting to see the sarcophagus in place too, when we went it was still very much under construction!

The swimming pool takes me back to playing call of duty :D. Amazing pictures, this has always been on the bucket list. How long did you spend there?

I only did the one day tour, wish I'd stayed longer now. One day definitely isn't enough time there!
