I saw in leads or rumours that someone had left a tin of biscuits in a wheelbarrow.
There was some other stuff about water or pipes or something but there’s often some distraction from the main event.
So, with flask of coffee and dunking cup packed, I set off for elevenses.
I followed the directions and headed upstream.
The pump outfall – I must be close.
The promised ladder.
As I got to here Styru’s warning of traps flitted through my mind, followed by images of Robert Herpmann as the Child Catcher
It really did feel like a set up
And there was the wheel barrow, everything’s fine. Time for coffee and …but wait … the barrow is empty….there’s no biscuits.
Very disappointed, I headed out.
Is that pump driven by hydraulic fluid? Not seen that before.
Thought I’d take a little look up top, but there was a repair man with a security guard mending a big Volvo.
Seriously though, a nice culvert. Maybe 500 yards long. Brick and stone and built around 1860 ish?
Not a bad way to spend half an hour
