Cliffe Park House is a country house near Rudyard. It’s a grad 2 listed building and currently privately owned.
The house was completed in 1811, it has been a private home, a youth hostel - in which George Orwell stayed and wrote a diary extract about the place. It was sold in 1970 and then the history is a little hazy.
The last owner was a victim of aggravated burglary at the Hall in 2015.
It’s on a private road so the locals are pretty suspicious of anyone driving down it but it’s well worth it. Pic heavy
