This winding machine was part of a coal mine that shut down already long ago. It's been left abandoned since, and decay heavily made it's way in the derelict building. Luckily, despite beeing abandoned for years, this place have not be subject to much vandalism, other than unavoidable cooper stealing.

This hall house the winding machine itself, along with it's related converters and control booth.

Very interesting.

That's a bi-cylindro-conical winding drum. It means that it was built as a steam winder and subsequently converted. The reason is that steam doesn't do torque and so is effectively geared by the smaller diameter of the drum at the beginning and end of the winding cycle.

As far as I know it always had these electic motors, it was built in the mid 50's, I doubt they were still using steam engines for new machines at the time
