Hey all,
I have allready covered Copenacre underground in another post but it wouldnt be right to leave out the badly trashed above site,
The surface stores and offices remained operational until about 2009. The surface elements were for Joint Service use rather than just the Royal Navy. In 2011 the site was believed to be under consideration for disposal by the Ministry of Defence, in 2020 its a new build housing estate and the only 2 remaining parts are the travelators.. I think someones double garage got put on top of the airshaft?
As far as the areas above go most are trashed but a few querky things left like the exhaust funnels for taking the fumes away from the running engines indoors, the travelator and the airshaft..
Nothing better than creeping around a corner, hearing a noise and thinking Security? or just someone like me?.. Even managed to start an outside generator at the push of a button but shi@#d it when it started, hit the stop button and gave it legs.
At the point of this explore i never realised i would have access by chance to the underground soon...
The Travelator..
Thanks for looking
