Report - Crescent Pub, Salford, Nov 2020

So this was abit of a random one. Didn’t aim for this place but it’s what we ended up getting.

closed back in 2017 this pub was a busy on for the students of Salford selling cheap beer n cheap food as well as hosting typical student themed nights. Grade 2 listed building covered in graffiti is now somewhat of a convertible with some of the roof damaged.

inside it’s clear it’s been used by rough sleepers at some point and had a good few visits from the vandals. Easy Assisted entry but you can tell the way some things are set out they might have been strategically placed so there is no quick entry or exit. There’s 4 floors to check out including the cellar which is great and the most preserved. From the top down you’ve got some good rooms you can easily tell were staff and residential And then the pub which still has a stage area.
The cellar had old documents with bank statements, orders and a bunch of other stuff. Had shelving with the glasses and a whiteboard with what needed ordering. Even had an untouched CD of a student band’s EP.

nice big building to check out and not seen much of it on here but I might not have looked hard enough.

Very trashed but a few nice features got me thinking, so I looked it up.
The pub where Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels are believed to have drunk together as they formulated the ideas of communism in the 19th century.
In 2018 councillors met with the owners of the Grade II-listed building to discuss its future.

Would be a shame if this place was demo`d

Its allegedly owned by a Chinese consortium. My guess is they are waiting for it to get so bad they can demolish it and build much needed student accommodation.

Calam, it was a P take, have a walk around Salford, there is nothing but student accommodation. My family were all from Salford, its been obliterated by greedy overseas buyers looking to make a quick buck by running down, demolishing and building yet more student flats.
