Report - Dinting Rail Shed - 05/04/15

My Dad and I visited and old train fixing shed that he used to visit at as a child in Dinting. I imagine it was quite hard for him to see it in such disrepair. It had rail tracking going all round the site which is now more of a dirt track.

These were some of his personal photos he took when he was younger.

Always a nice place to visit this, did you get any pics of the viaduct? The original started sagging and they had to build stabilisers which have remained to this day. There also used to be a disused platform building but it's over ten years now since I rode the Glossop line. A point worth noting is that Dinting shed was re-opened and used to be a steam centre in the 1980s, various celebrity locomotives visited here over the years but as you can see the venture was not a success, and it folded. Sad times.
