The site was founded in 1919 by William Haigh and would go on to employ 600 people in the popular industry of Cotton, sadly by the 1960's it all went into decline.
Cut to the 1990's and the site was acquired by Z Hinchliffe & Sons with the hope of a contract from a major retail client which sadly fell through and the site fell silent.
A proposal to redevelop some of the site and create 27 new apartments, some spaces for industry and new housing was put forward in 2018.
But no signs of this have occurred as of today - a warm summer one in which me and Othersideofmidnight took a little trip down to get a closer look!
It's largely empty but still worth a good look, we spent hours because it's such a huge site and we wanted to capture as much as we could. Well - you never know when fences will start to appear and renovation proceeds.
I had a hair raising moment when I activated one of the big switches behind the power distribution panel and it turned out to be Live!!!
The offices had lots of retro stuff like Floppy Disks, traditional book keeping and old titty calenders.
A great afternoon and we met up with various teams of other explorers.
On with the pics:
