The Tunnel was completed in 1850 by the OWWR (Oxford-Worcester-Wolverhampton Railway)
It opened out right into Dudley Train Station back then, but the station closed in 1964 following the infamous Beeching Axe.
A Freightliner terminal opened up in the late 60's and closed around 1989. Freight trains continued to use the tunnel until 1993.
