Just a quick one - we were out and about and happened upon this one - so it would have been rude not to - wouldn't it?

Seen above whilst in use the East Harptree mast was built in the 50's as a line of sight microwave relay station to allow the bulk transfer of data (TV, Phone, etc)
Now superseded by subterranean fibre-optics the site is disused.
The site sold for £110,000 in 2009, and has just come back on the market for the bargain price of £295,000 - but now with planning permission for the demolition of the existing structures, and the erection of a 'unique 5 bedroom part earth sheltered dwelling set in 0.96 acres'
If you want to buy it try here: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-44492647.html
So, on with some pics:
The site today....
Looking up...
Sadly the bottom 20 feet or so of ladder have been removed - so there is no way up (yeah, right)
Thanks to 'The Queen' for this one...
The mast still has resident security - these three were waiting for us on the second level...
Her Majesty...
Off site security chose the wrong transport..
Looking out towards the Mendip TV Mast - perhaps a job for a day when I have more time (and less desire to keep my testicles)
Note to self - polish shoes...
Topping out - thanks again to 'The Queen' for this one...
Not a biggie - but, as I say, it would have been rude not to......
Thanks for looking - please turn the lights off on your way out....
