Paid a visit to Eastleigh Works a few weeks ago, mainly to have a look at the old London Underground 'A' Stock trains which are currently being withdrawn. With only 4 trains left in service, their time is almost up. After 51 years' service, they will soon all be in the depot in the sky. There were, at a guess, 20 carriages of 'A' stock here.
You may have seen this thread which I posted back in September which features the same trains.
London Underground 1967 stock (ex-Victoria Line) which has now been withdrawn entirely for a year.
London Underground 1972 MKI stock. This type of train was withdrawn in 1998. These had been transferred from MOD Shoeburyness fairly recently to go for scrap.
Withdrawn Greater Anglia class 317s. These trains are in storage and will be re-used eventually.
Alongside a class 508 in Silverlink Metro livery, previously operated by London Overground.
Southeastern class 508s, withdrawn in 2008. These trains are fairly old now (built 1979) and although currently stored, may never see service again.
These few were taken in December 2011:
Cheers for reading!
