First of the sites on our Belgo-German road trip of last month - We rolled up to this enormous power station about 5am just as the minging drizzly dawn was breaking. It was absolutely mega, it has a huge museum part, which appears abandoned showcasing 1920's style turbines in a long row (as reported by our own johnsalomon here.)
Our main focus was the later 1950's boiler house and turbine hall, featuring the massive Rateau - La Meuse Turbine.
We didn't spend long here, perhaps an hour and half tops, with hindsight I'd have loved to have spent a lot longer in there. So much to explore, including walking through a door in the back of one of the old control rooms into a long room full of buzzing switchgear... One for a re-visit I'm sure.
Post Power Station croissant celebrations.
Cheers for having a look
