Facit Mill, Whitworth
Vague History:
Smithson Brothers, 1891 - 20,000 spindles; 625 looms
Built entirely from Accrington brick, this once three storey textile mill employing 700 people replaced a former mill demolished in 1904
Facit finally closed it's doors in the 1960's
It's more recently used as an Airsoft site, as well as training for the emergency services
I've drove past this place on many occasion with a view to 'having a crack'
I originally went for a mooch here last year with The_Collective. After a further 2 failed attempts (Including clambering around on the crutches) I had almost given up...
Fast forward a few months and I was passing through with 'Tweedy' and we decided to have one last look
They say things come in 3's, they certainly did last week
This was a rushed job, to make matters worse my memory card became corrupted, losing a good chunk of pics and after a return visit it's been sealed tight again
