History:
The place has been making wallpaper for over 150 years, and has relocated down the road. The site is being converted into houses now, and is slowly being demo'd.
The explore:
Luckily only a small portion of the site has gone to date. The rest is somewhat stripped - all stock and materials have gone, but there is still plenty left to see on the premises. Tons of old machinery and other bits knocking about.
The site is pretty big and has security that patrols outside, but they don't seem to go in any of the buildings. There's some asbestos removal going on, so I assume they will start knocking down most of the buildings once that has finished.
If you want to see it, get in quick. They've been ripping out random parts of site in no apparent order - so don't assume that workers will only be outside.
Some of the interesting offices are tucked away, so you've got to check all the nooks and crannies to find them.. Enjoy.
That nameplate tho:
Warehouses full of racking:
Still odd bits of stock left on some of the shelves
Printing machine (I think) in next 3 images:
Some bits of the site were obviously left disused for a long time before site closed:
Canteen:
Not many jobs left on the board:
