Another quickie. Nothing epic but I enjoyed this one much more than LTI thats for sure!
Have known about this site for a while but although the front offices are boarded up i was under the impression the sheds were still used. As it turns out only part of the sheds are used most of it is not! @Dave W and @Joe. had apparently been in the offices and Dave reported them to be shit. Hopes were not high! However once Me, Dave and @dweeb did find a way in i was pleasantly surprised to find the kind of old derpy factory that is nearly extinct in the West Midlands now. There was a nice row of pot furnaces where i guess they heated coils of strip before lifting them out and rolling and heat treating them. There was another large 'Grunewald' furnace that i couldn't quite work out and then a bunch of tunnel furnaces, stores and remains of a canteen. When we got there there was a rather nice Gents clock hanging in the roof but it mysteriously vanished before i could pull my camera out the bag.. Oh well!
Dont ask me for history, Everyone Knows Firth, The remains of this division is now owned by Liberty and still going. Exactly when this opened/closed im not sure.
