Just a quick report of a culvert I had explored last month.
I had been in here before not expecting much, but the stone work in here was fantastic and I needed to come back to get some photos..
To start off, this tunnel could be around 300 years old (Forge Dam was built around 1760 so Im going off that) so I was a surprised how well its held up over the years!
The outfall appears out of the side of a hill, joining head on with the Porter Brook.
As soon as you step in, youre met with hundreds of hanging spider eggs and cobwebs.
They may not show up in the photo very well, but I was surprised how many spiders and cobwebs there were in here!
The tunnel turns swiftly left.
Looking back.
One thing about this culvert is it is not at all stand up-able. At most its probably 4 foot high, so even for its short length, this thing is a pain in the arse to do...
Eventually, the tunnel loses some of its width..
Day light ahead!
Also notice the brick re-enforcement which reduced the height for a short while..
No way out here unless I wanted to crawl..
I was curious to find the infall, so I GTFO and went to take a look.
A short time later, I found it infalled just behind the Forge Dam Cafe!
(faster flow was from me doing a Post10 on the dam outfall LOL)
The water came out from the dam from a noice sluice gate, very new as I believe they dredged Forge Dam completely.
A short and sweet explore, thanks for reading!
