First off I'm new here and new to this so apologies if I have done anything incorrectly... I'm posting this as I haven't come across anything about this place on here yet and was thinking of making an actual report on if I go back, so tell me what you all think
So, earlier this year (2024) around Easter time I had planned to explore this little spot I found. The site was a former highway depot that even has warehouses for storage, a toll booth office thing and a little fueling station:
(This is inside the site btw and cannot see it from outiside)
I walked past it one day and thought that's definitely abandoned as the entrance and the sign on the entrance is being engulfed by plants and over Easter I went there to check it out, my first impression was that it's kind of boring not too much to see, you can access every building on the site but nothing screamed cool or interesting. It would be an interesting place to hang around with some friends I guess as long as the neighboring residential houses don't hear you...
From my understanding the site itself is currently a brownfield site and hasn't been touched for more than a decade (closed in 2011) if you saw how overgrown the vegetation is you can tell straight away. Since closing the only people that have gone on it was to assess the land for surveys and planning for redevelopments along with new housing but had got rejected because of "possible" historical artifacts underneath and now the site is just sat here rotting away.
I know that Southwell is very small and so I'm surprised that no-one has written a report on this place yet!
