A Second World War coastal artillery battery, used to inspect suspect merchant ships approaching Boston. The battery comprised 2 six-inch gun emplacements, with linked ammunition magazines, a battery office and store, and a battery engine room. Associated with the battery were two coast artillery searchlights, two extant pillboxes and a former military railway. The nearby Marine Hotel was also used to accommodate the platoon of soldiers who defended the battery. This Hotel is now a shell of it's former self and can be seen in the first picture. A nice chilled explore this and is great to visit on a hot summer day being a decent walk. I give it the nickname of military row thanks to the many different structures across the stretch. There's something for everyone here and sits on a public footpath so you can explore without looking over your shoulder every 5 minutes. Be sure to check it out if your in the area. This is what I captured, enjoy!
