Explore:
Holly and myself (John) stayed local to our area and explored this local abandoned garden center with a possible caretakers house on site to keep an eye on the property, when the house and center itself was in use. We have explored this before as it is situated in our local park, which sometimes local homeless people sit outside this center to use it as a gathering place to drink alcohol. Previous visit, access was pretty easy as when we have got inside, there was a few wooden pallets, lots of broken glass with loads of ruined books plus lots of things that were probably left as it closed down but couldn't see much else. This visit, they have boarded it up with metal sheeting, so couldn't grab any pictures from inside the garden center but could walk around the shell of inside the house, what was left of it really.
(Not sure what will happen to the center or the house, but hopefully it gets used to its full potential for something for locals to use while still doing car boot sales on site)
History:
Don't know too much on the history but from what we gathered was that it was used as a center for purchasing many goods for garden usage and the grounds of the garden center still gets used for car boot sales today. With the house, it seems its been there for a while, what with the amount of layers of paint on the walls and the style of wallpaper they used on the walls, plus we fount a single light switch, which indicated from possible early 70s/80s, were not entirely sure. The house seems like it was a 1 bedroom property, with functioning shower with fireplace in bedroom and living room. House had been burned inside for at least a decade or so, not sure exact time frame. In 2017, a massive fire broke out in the garden center which no one was hurt or involved with the incident. The cause of the fire was unknown, fire brigade had said in the news report.
Thank you for reading and hope you enjoy the pictures we took below of our exploration.
