Report - Gloucester Battery (blyth)

Just took a quick look around this place. I've always wanted a proper look around here, been passing it for prob 20+ years as with 1000's of people that drive along the road every week. :

This is a gun position built during World War II (1939-45). It was one of three Heavy Anti Aircraft Batteries built to defend Blyth from attack by the German navy, though it also had anti-aircraft guns. Remains of the gun emplacements can still be seen.

totally un-charved, tho there is some bits that have been demo'd/filled in.

There were to of these either end of the site, my guess is air raid shelters

Main command bunker? middle of site

Toilets? lol

Loading ramp of some kind?

1 of the ammo stores around the outside of the big rings. theres 3 of these next to each other, all with many rooms like this.. with picture 2 at either end.
