We got married this year and spent our honeymoon travelling Croatia with a bit of Urbex thrown in, for the romantic part.
Goli Otok is only accessible by boat. We hired a boat taxi which took us out to the island itself where we spent the day exploring. There's so much more to it than just these photos. It's a full prison complex. Approx 2km by 2km. Facilities included a cinema, quarries, ammunition dump, lookout posts, marble works, tile works, a school, medical facility to name a few.
It was a high security prison between 1949-1989 in the former Yugoslavia used mainly for political prisoners. As you can see from the photos it has been left to ruin. It's an amazing place for an explore.
