"Constructed by Shell Mex and BP during 1941/1942, at Monk Meadow Dock on the Canal. The site was originally known as Gloucester AFD (Aviation Fuel Depot). The site transferred from the Air Ministry to the Ministry of Power in 1959, It Closed in the early 1990s after the end of the cold war along with the rest of the depots on the N/S Pipeline. Operations at the depot were taken over by Texaco in 1971 and they operated the site until closure. The depot was supplied by Road, Rail and barge. There are four C2 Tanks with a capacity of 4000 tons each. The PSD was connected to a Shell-Mex and BP Installation at the Monk Meadow dock for rail and road loading facilities and to the Gloucester GCR site"

Having Photographed most of the former GPSS sites on the N/S pipeline. The Gloucester PSD had escaped my attention as I thought it was already housing like its sister site the Gloucester GCR. Its appearance on the forum a few weeks ago was a pleasant surprise. When i visited the site It was nice to find a well preserved depot even down to such mundane features like all the street lighting still in place.
JP-8 was the grade of fuel being dealt with.
