Grays Scrapyard

This site has been well documented previously, but I thought it would be nice to stick a report up with images solely from my cheap point and shoot film camera with Ultramax 400. I am so happy with these pics, definitely going to continue using film where possible. Visited with @dais

Grays is one of them local places that you're always drawn back to, I have covered every corner of the site and always managed to find a new little something to look at each time. It's one of them olde-worlde places that really feels special and like you've gone back in time.

The site belongs to the Aldrich Family, who were quite well known around the South Norfolk / Breckland area. They also owned the old shop in Banham, along with 'Gefforeys House'. These are also a few more derpy sites and houses that belonged to them also. I'm not sure how long the place has been vacant since, the youngest car there is a Rover Metro on an M reg (M118 ANG for those nerdy enough to want to know)
I believe the elders in the Aldrich family have since passed away, and the younger ones are not interested in the buildings and land that is left. The shop in Banham has a planning notice to demolish and build new properties on the site but nothing has happened there yet.

Everything has remained mostly unchanged. There are some static caravans on the site which still hold plenty of goodies, some of the cars have been ransacked. A few number plates have gone, and the instrument clusters from both the Lada and the FSO have been removed. The Land Rover's bulkhead has finally given way also due to the tree pushing on it. If you visit on a windy day, you can see the cab of the Land Rover swaying in the wind as the tree is blown, It's quite strange to watch.

I love this place so much, I know exactly what you mean when you say it has an old world feeling.

I didn't realise you had been! It certainly has, I felt the same at George Barnsleys, like it's stuck in a totally different era.

Been twice now, first time was ages ago and we didn't see any of the big static caravans or the stuff at the rear of the site, went back last year and did the lot, I'd be there a whole lot more if it was three hours closer to me.

Found the caravans quite enjoyable. I noticed them on my first visit but kept away from them as it didn't know if they were being lived in or not. It's not until @Mikeymutt said about them that I went in. I'm lucky, around a 15-minute drive for me :)

I've always struggled to get ultramax to look good but these are absolutely fantastic. I always seem to get a very yellowy tone that I'm honestly not that fond of. These are quite warm though, very nice pics!

Where/how did you get these developed and scanned?

Thank you! It was quite an overcast day so perhaps that had something to do with it. I'm not really too clued up on film yet, still learning.

Analogue wonderland is the company where the film was purchased from and who done the development

I've been shooting years and I still don't know what I'm doing haha. Half of the fun is the unexpected result tho innit. Nice I'm currently not so happy with my usual lab I use. Going to try a few new ones.

That's the attraction of film personality, its the unknown. Not knowing what results you're getting. And I like how it's limited, I think we've all become accustomed to pointing and shooting everything we see, whereas with film you have to take it easy and actually think about what you want to shoot. This was only my second roll of film I've taken, so I'm very green still.

I've heard good things widely about Analogue Wonderland. They've got pretty quick turnaround time also
