Built in around 1989 and closed by 2020; Great Holm Fire Station was pretty short lived; even as Public Buildings go. I’d had my eye on this one for a while as its local; but curtain twitchers and a busy main road always put me off when visiting. I visited in April 2023 with a friend, and after 30 seconds on site we walked straight into a bunch of PCSO’s turfing out some rowdy local kids. They were spot on, but of course we were asked to leave. Annoying as it was disabled access at this time.
I returned after a few weeks, and it’s safe to say that I didn’t get here at the best of time. The place was pretty wrecked at this stage, and the power HAD been on the last time I came (Cameraless), but they had a cover up in the streets and works going on during my successful visit; so I assume that they had JUST cut the power when I was there.
Little of interest here, but the Appliance Bay was photogenic and had some nice murals in, plus the Chemical Spillage suits dotted around made for some interesting viewing. Sadly no pole drop, and the drill tower was totally locked down….
